Good column this week (Hammer, "Where is the Panic?" Feb. 4-11). I agree with much of the sentiment. For many years I have been saying the American economy is a house of cards built on a foundation of debt and speculation and fueled by consumption levels that can't be sustained. You cannot buy cheap crap at Wal-Mart and turn a profit on your 401k every quarter, those two aims are not compatible. I believe in America right now the bankster elite (who put Obama in office) are wrecking the economy on purpose, trying to push us into rebellion as a excuse for installing martial law. Yell at the puppet show all you want, Steve, the people pulling the strings do not change, the left and right are illusions. Like George Carlin once said, "You have tons of choices over things that don't matter (50 choices of chocolate chip cookies) and no choice over things that do."
