"I would like to applaud you on your insight of the corporate Christmas greed that has gotten worse over the years (Hammer, “The Culture of Greed,” Nov. 7-14). It’s hard to believe that there used to be NO Christmas anything before Thanksgiving. I look back on those days and wish we as a culture would put an end to the over-commercialization of this holiday.
I’m not sure that the Reagan era is totally to blame for this, but I feel that it would’ve happened regardless. The day a candidate endorses a law stating NO Christmas action until the day after Thanksgiving, I’ll be at the polls!!! Since I doubt this will ever happen, I will continue to protest anything Christmas before Thanksgiving and remember the days when we were still willing to wait for Christmas instead of forcing it down our throats as soon as Halloween has ended.
