The city awarded six Green Infrastructure Grants last week to help manage and treat stormwater run-off using natural systems. The grants are funded by United Water in partnership with the Indianapolis Office of Sustainability. Among the organizations receiving grants were Indianapolis Downtown Inc, for a pilot Downtown Street Rain Garden project; Butler's Center for Urban Ecology for a Cisterns and Rain Barrel program; the Indianapolis Cultural Trail for a Stormwater project; and the Nature Conservancy for its Green Roof project. HealthNet and Pike Youth Soccer also received grants. For more about the Office of Sustainability, go to www.sustainindy.org.
