A lawsuit filed by the city of Gary that would hold 16 gun makers as well as six Northern Indiana gun dealers liable for crimes committed with guns in that community is headed for trial now that the Indiana Supreme Court has determined to let stand a lower court ruling that the federal Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act does not bar the suit from proceeding. The suit has been grinding its way through the court system since 1999.
