If the state Legislature lets Mitch Daniels have his way, Indiana's public broadcasting stations, including WFYI in Indianapolis, will lose all of their state funding. For WFYI, this would mean a cut of $517,000. That's less than 5 percent of WFYI's total operating budget, but could hurt the station's ability to raise additional money from private sources. WFYI recently announced the lay-offs of five staffers and cancellation of its signature show, Across Indiana.
