So Gov. Daniels used a state plane to fly to Washington, D.C., for a meeting of the nation's governors with President Obama. Apparently, the plane costs nearly $1,000 an hour to use. But if it helps to better connect Indiana's interests with policy makers in Washington during this critical time in our history, fine. If anything, we should be asking why the state keeps a plane that seems to be in no better shape than our public transit system or our parks. The plane's windshield cracked while in flight and will cost $20,000 to fix.
