His name was exactly poetic, but Bald Eagle C52, who died last week while undergoing surgery at the age of 21, inspired thousands of people who had the chance to meet him at the Department of Natural Resources' Patoka Lake Visitor Center and in special programs sponsored by the DNR around the state. C52 was born with a wing that wouldn't extend. Since he couldn't be released to the wild, he served the DNR's Interpretive Services, helping to teach about bald eagle habits and habitat.
