Talk about living in an ivory tower! IUPUI has suddenly shown up at the Capital Improvement Board's front door -- asking for money. Seems the Natatorium needs a few million for repairs. Apparently the university didn't get the memo about the CIB's being cash-strapped with a couple of other sports facilities in town. What's worse is that IUPUI's numbers really don't look good. They say the Natatorium generates about $400,000 a year in tax revenue. But the facility costs around $645,000 annually to maintain. Except, IUPUI has been spending less that $100,000 on upkeep most years. Something stinks -- and it's not just the mildew in the locker room.
