I just wanted to thank A. Roberts with all my heart, for the article he wrote some months ago on junk mail (Cover, "The Great Paper Saver Caper," Nov. 26-Dec. 2). It helped me to hear that someone else was as frustrated with this insidious, wasteful and destructive invasion of our lives. It was uncomfortably amusing to read about his trip into the maze of junk mail marketing and trying to find ways to stem the tide against it. I went through the exact same thing a while back before I had Internet, and almost climbed through the phone line to choke the person on the other end for their disregard for my (or anyone else's) rights. I put his advice into action and I hope there is a better chance that a more permanent solution to this thoroughly wasteful practice is passed by law, sooner than later. If more information is forthcoming, as the need arises, he ought to write an update on the subject.
