The IHSAA Finals were held Saturday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis with classes 1A through 4A playing.
The 1A game between Marquette Catholic and Barr-Reeve was full of excitement. It stayed close with Marquette having the largest lead of the game (10 points) in the third quarter. Barr-Reeve fought back valiantly to take the lead in the fourth only to have Marquette tie it up at the end. In overtime, Marquette attacked quickly, took the lead and finished as State Champions.
Final Score: Marquette 70, Barr-Reeve 66
The 2A State Championship game had some more familiar names in it as Park Tudor faced off against Westview. This game was a blowout with Park Tudor dominating throughout. Trevon Bluiett led his team with 24 points and was quite aware that this game was one that could seal the deal for the Mr. Indiana award, which he is heavily favored for.
Final Score: Park Tudor 84, Westview 57
The 3A game was another nail biter with two-time State Champions Bowman taking on Greensburg. Both teams came ready for battle, but it was Greensburg who was came more prepared. Bowman did not bring their defense as they struggled throughout. Ryan Welage had 21 points and 7 rebounds for Greensburg.
Final Score: Greensburg 89, Bowman Academy 76
The Class 4A match up between Arsenal Tech and Lake Central was the feature game as the Mighty Titans proved they were the best team in the state, beating Lake Central 63-59. The Titans win did not come easily as they blew a 23-point third quarter lead. Lake Central battled back to within 3 and made things interesting at the end.Trey Lyles was named the winner of the Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award.
