As has become the norm in recent years, Indianapolis is once again the red-hot center of high school basketball. There are probably eight or nine area boys’ teams you could legitimately argue deserve a spot in the state Top 10. Last week’s County Tourney was a smorgasbord of close scores and upsets, and this week’s City Tourney should be nearly as good. Northwest (9-1) is the hottest team in the field, having just beaten Cathedral (10-1) and Arlington (9-3) in the same week. But any of those three, along with Chatard (8-1), could easily win it all. Barring any major upsets, Cathedral should get their rematch with Northwest at 6 p.m. Friday; Chatard will butt heads with Arlington the next night. The Championship is set for Monday at 7:30 p.m. All games are played at Tech, in the oldest high school gym in the city, built in 1926, the same year as Hinkle.
