Writer/director/star Emilio Estevez attempts to distill the hope, anger, and confusion that gripped the U.S. in the late 1960s. In a sprawling style incorporating multiple storylines, Estevez uses the June 4, 1969, assassination of Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles to take a snapshot of the problems facing the country as the ‘60s came to an end. The large cast also includes Lindsay Lohan, Helen Hunt, Elijah Wood, Demi Moore, and Ashton Kutcher. 119 minutes. DVD INFO: Two separately packaged DVDs are available: One preserves the film in the anamorphic widescreen format, while the other hacks off nearly a third of the picture for the fullscreen (aka pan & scan) version. Shop carefully. Both versions include a making-of featurette and interviews with people who were at the Ambassador that night.
