Funny, fascinating, sad/sweet documentary about the rude, crude Canadian rock group Anvil, who made a splash on the metal scene in the early '80s, but never managed to make that crucial jump from hot opening act to the big time. The film follows the now 50-something band as they soldier on, refusing to give up the dream despite suffering indignity after indignity. There are numerous This is Spinal Tap moments, but these are real people, which changes the tone of those moments. The richest aspect of the movie is the relationship between high-school friends and original Anvil members Steve "Lips" Kudlow and Robb Reiner, who squabble and make-up like an old married couple. Very nice. 90 minutes. DVD INFO: Includes a commentary track, deleted scenes and an extended interview with Lars Ulrich.
