It was great to check out the first show at the Center for the Performing Art's "Studio Series" this past weekend. This series will feature local and regional artists from various genres performing their music in the intimate setting in the Studio Theatre.

The initial show featured singer/songwriter/guitarist Brett Wiscons, performing many original tunes and a couple of covers, including Jason Isbell's "Maybe It's Time" and a holiday favorite "Silver Bells". With originals "Sarazona", "Less Than Nothing" and "Tip me in Tequila", along with the stories behind them, it made for a fun performance. Brett was joined on stage by Anne Balbo Manley for a couple of tunes as well.

Singer/Songwriter and guitarist Sarah Grain and the Billions of Stars followed Wiscons with mostly original music and all of it was fantastic! Sarah's band on this night included drummer Ryan Koch, Mina Keohane on keyboards and vocals and bassist Nate Gray.

Check out more of the Studio Series in the new year.
