1. What do you offer as a candidate?
I have a proven record of political leadership as President
of the Washington Township Board.
My other community board presidencies have provided a good
skill set. I am willing to make the tough decisions in order to do the job
2) What does your district most need from the City
Community development: affordable housing, infrastructure
improvement to make the existing housing stock more attractive, business
development, more visible public safety. Any project that would generate jobs
locally would benefit my District.
3) What's your opinion of the 2012 budget proposed by the
$40 million of TIF one-time money to balance the mayor's
budget tells me that we are not living within current recurrent funding levels.
4) What is your position on a comprehensive smoking ban?
I support it.
5) Do you think the city should add more cops?
Until the manning chart can be comprehensively reviewed,
along with a review of how the costs follow, I would prefer to see how we can
do it better with what we have. It's a staffing/budgetary problem. Priorities
need to be set and then funded.
6) Do you support increased funding for public transit?
Yes, but again, there's a finite amount of funding to go
around. I support seeking federal funding for assistance in this area. I
believe a comprehensive review of the current system and routes to increase
ridership of IndyGo makes sense. Again, this is a budgetary issue and must fit
into the priorities of the taxpayers.
7) Do you think the streets and sidewalks in your
district are in good shape?
Some are, some aren't. I'd like to see a comprehensive
maintenance schedule by street so that the repair rotation happens on schedule,
and taxpayers can be made aware of the schedule.
Additionally, Districts would not be fighting for
8) Name one project that would most benefit your
My District is extremely varied economically, and the needs
of individual neighborhoods vary.
I support neighborhood cohesiveness through the neighborhood
associations and CDCs that already exist, and their current plans. Any project
that would generate jobs locally would benefit my District.
9) What question do you wish we'd asked?
What can I bring you for lunch?
