Indiana once was rich with wetlandsmarshy areas where water and land co-exist and that provide a rich habitat for wild flora and fauna. In fact, the study of ecology was born through the study of wetlands in the Indiana dunes. But wetlands are often targets for developers and their destruction can leave places vulnerable to flooding and other forms of environmental degradation. Voice of the Wetlands is a non-profit focused on raising awareness and funding for saving wetlands. Thursday night, Yats restaurants hosts a free event at the IMAX Theater Downtown at 650 Washington St. to support this cause. Two films will be shown: Happiness, featuring Joe Vuskovich, by Duncan Alney and Hurricane on the Bayou. The event begins at 6:30 and is followed by a reception with Yats cuisine and a cash bar. Donations encouraged.
