High gas prices have commuters giving buses a try. IndyGo reported a 24 percent increase in ridership in April 2008 compared to a year ago. The basic fare is $1.50. If you ride one of the crowded express routes from Fishers or Carmel, the cost is $2 for a one-way trip. Unfortunately, IndyGo is one of the most poorly funded public transit systems in the nation — which means there aren’t funds currently available to add new buses.
