The good news is that the state announced more than $800,000 in housing opportunities for people with HIV/AIDS this week. Twelve organizations from across the state will share $837,103 to develop affordable housing and support services for people with HIV/AIDS and their families. AIDS Ministries in South Bend will receive $115,292, a group serving the Evansville area gets $72,632 and a Bloomington area program will get $52,184. This program, a combination of state and federal dollars, is important, but the amount of money seems paltry—and, somehow, Marion County managed to be left out.
