Republicans in Northwest Indiana’s Lake County are opposing a move to open additional early voting centers to make early voting easier for people without cars in Gary, Hammond and East Chicago. As things stand now, many people in the Region have to travel an hour or more to get to vote early. In spite of that, thousands of votes have already been cast in a Democratic stronghold that could tilt the state in November. Lake County Superior Court Judge Calvin Hawkins will rule on the case.
