I wanted to express my appreciation for the cover photo and subsequent articles covering the downtown visual arts scene (Nov. 30-Dec. 7). Once again, NUVO stepped up to the plate and delivered an informative and accurate account of the downtown visual arts community.
Jim Walker and Jennifer Dawson took the time to do the research and present a candid portrayal of the arts and gallery scene. While their interviews uncovered the occasional misstep, the overriding impression is that you have a growing number of dedicated individuals and organizations working to make Indianapolis culturally rich.
Over the past 20 years, there has been tremendous growth in the number and quality of arts venues. With the success of the Harrison Center, iMOCA, Allotropy and Big Car Gallery, “alternative spaces” are providing much needed exhibition opportunities and becoming permanent fixtures on the cultural landscape. The growth in public art projects, Indy Fringe Fest and Orange are evidence we’re heading in the right direction.
Through all this growth, NUVO has been a valuable partner. Your commitment to the arts is demonstrated through your actions, with program sponsorship and in depth coverage. Thank you for all your past support and I look forward to working with you in the future.
