For years, I have read your leftist drivel and hyperbolic statements about how President Bush single-handedly trashed the Constitution, spied on American citizens and drove the country into recession, etc. Allow me please to present the other side of your eulogizing of Sen. Kennedy (Hammer, “Get Well Soon, Sen. Kennedy,” May 21-28).
In no way do I wish illness on Sen. Kennedy, but I regard Kennedy with as much disdain as you do President Bush. An honorable man? A champion of the “little guy”? Sen. Kennedy was a political demagogue who was willing to lie and personally trash the reputations of Supreme Court nominees Robert Bork, Clarence Thomas and John Roberts in order to achieve his misguided political aims.
Rest assured, just as you will be throwing a party on Jan. 20, 2009, to “celebrate” the end of President Bush, I will have a party when Kennedy announces his retirement from the Senate because it will signify that our government has lost a terrible politician who sought to aggrandize himself via government mandated wealth redistribution. Always remember that the politician who promises to rob Peter to pay Paul can always count on the undying support of Paul.
