I must say that I enjoy your [Steve Hammer’s] weekly column in the NUVO. You provide an amazing array of ignorance, anti-patriotism and in many cases stupidity. Your comic relief is great. You know everything that is wrong in this country, but hold nothing to change it for the better. You point the finger and sit and do nothing.
I understand that your column is meant to provoke Democratic and liberal views … that is your opinion and I share many of your thoughts as well, but your infallible, demeaning manner is sickening. This is your livelihood though … Now you suggest wild, violent, street demonstrations (“Time for Mass Protest,” Feb. 8-15)? The Civil Rights movement was a wonderful triumph for the country … we both agree on that, but your comparison to that of the current administration is absurd. The Civil Rights movement was a purging of centuries of racism in millions of American citizens, not the president or the administration.
Apparently Bush is the cause of everything wrong in the country and John Kerry is the solution. Under Kerry we would all be better … low gas prices, no war, no deaths from Katrina and the immaculate list of imagery goes on. And my I ask … Do you remember Sept. 11? Let me refresh your memory … the terrorist bastards flew airplanes into the World Trade Center and killed 3,000 people. Does any of this sound familiar? Our national security is gone … we are vulnerable to the world.
Our soldiers are over there … I support our move in Afghanistan … Iraq was necessary for our boys’ protection in the region. I don’t fully support it and I think it was poorly planed, but we must support our men and women over there.
“It’s time to act” … well, I’m sorry to tell you, but Bush is gonna be around till 2008 and no protests are going to change it. Bush is president, we in a war, gas is high, pot is illegal and OJ is free … life sucks, get over it.
