Time was that you could just send off your grant proposal and then expect to negotiate an endless deliberation process involving excruciating conference calls and unprovable proofs of concept and anxious, anxious waiting. No more.
Indy has become an idea-pitching town, and your next chance to win over a crowd and jury comes up November 1, when the Spirit & Place Festival hosts "$20K: A Competition about Race," which will feature the best proposals for "reshaping notions of race in Central Indiana."
Individuals and groups from any walk of life are invited to submit their proposals by Oct. 1 to spiritandplace.org, where one can find submission guidelines and selection criteria. Four innovators will advance to the Nov. 1 competition at The Toby at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, and the $20k winner will be determined by a combination of jury and audience votes.
