"Federal court to hold hearing on expelled student filmmakers
A federal District Court in Indianapolis will hold its first hearing Friday morning in civil rights lawsuits filed by two Indiana high school students expelled for their involvement in creating a video that school officials say threatened and defamed a teacher.
Fifteen-year-old Isaac Imel and 16-year-old Cody Overbay were two of four sophomores expelled from Knightstown High School in early November over The Teddy Bear Master, a 78-minute South Park-inspired parody of the late 1980s horror film The Puppet Master. Officials and attorneys for the Charles A. Beard Memorial School Corporation say the four students threatened and defamed Dan Clevenger, a seventh-grade math teacher at Knightstown Intermediate School who shares the same last name as a teacher portrayed in the video.
