Below freezing temperatures didn't stop hundreds of Herron High School students from participating in a school walkout Wednesday morning. The walkout, part of a nationwide effort, began shortly before 10 a.m. and lasted for around 20 minutes.

Taking place one month after the school shooting in Parkland, Florida that claimed the lives of 17 people, a group of students formed a large circle around a smaller group of students holding pictures of people killed in the school shooting.

A separate group of students, some holding signs that read "#Enough" "Never Again" and "Enough is Enough," led chants voicing their opinions about school safety and the country's gun laws.
