I am trying to understand what happened. Maybe the BEST GODDAMN CHEESEBURGER in the world messed with my brain. I didn't take a single photograph of NUVO Presents' inaugural concert at State Street Pub featuring The Silver Birds and Kung Fu Overdrive. But then again, my NUVO partner in crime, Jerrica Ramathorn, also should have taken snapshots. She didn't. Both band's website didn't have any photos, only a post thanking SSP, NUVO, and the people who showed up.
Best Goddamn Cheeseburger
I swear it happened. Kung Fu Overdrive showed off a set of rippers from their forthcoming album, along with crowd-pleasers like "Automatic" and "Fists of Fury." The crowd was decent for a cold Thursday in January. By the time The Silver Birds got up, the place was fully abuzz. They tore the place apart. Tunes like "Goodbye" and "Last Chance to Sin" from their debut Lp, Under My Wing, were some damn solid rocking.
NUVO Presents next soiree will be held February 17 at The Historic Melody Inn. We'll be rocking with The Vess Ruhtenberg Band, Extra Blue Kind, and Uno Gold. This event may or may not be clothing optional.
Finally, we are proud to feature Sid Hughes' feature on Indy heavy rockers Lust Witch, which announces a new frontman for the band. Next week NUVO will bring even more of Indy's best music coverage with interviews, reviews, and more. Stay classy, y'all.
After walking into the original NUVO offices in fall, 1990, wearing a leather jacket, sporting a purple Mohawk and scaring the bejesus out of the editorial staff, Jeff Napier quickly proved indispensable to NUVO, Indy’s music scene and its readers
