Consolers of the Lonely

Jack White’s scattered moments of weirdo whimsy lead the way on this mostly routine album that — cover art included — attempts to bring whiffs of early ’70s rock heroics. The Greenhornes provide a sturdy stage for White and little bro’ Brendan Benson, who swap lead duties seamlessly over a slightly-too-long batch of songs that hosts a few husky gems that should make Eric Clapton and Robin Trower feel influential again.
Sounds like: a hodgepodge of bloody-fingered pre-disco rockers
