Set Your Goals @ E.S. Jungle

I often complain that the E.S. Jungle is underutilized as a 300-capacity all-ages venue. Tomorrow, the space will be put to full use as it hosts popular melodic hardcore band Set Your Goals.

Hailing from California, SYG has quickly risen up the popular punk ladder. Their style of punk, which mixes classic Fat Wreck Chord and Epitaph-brand skate punk with the radio-ready melodies of bands like Simple Plan and American Hi-Fi, has a very broad appeal. Their popular appeal is growing exponentially as they find themselves on a broad range of tours, winning over diverse, young crowds.

  • SET YOUR GOALS: Real cool guys. Real cool...

Since their humble start in 2004, the band has toured alongside the likes of political punks Anti-Flag, hardcore/pop darlings Saves The Day and traumatically obnoxious pop-punkers New Found Glory. They have become a mainstay of punk festivals such as Bamboozle and the Warped Tour. In fact, they have been confirmed as a headliner for this year’s Warped Tour (which will stop in Noblesville on July 7th).

Following their departure from metal-core label Eulogy Recordings, the six-piece band signed up with powerhouse “punk” label Epitaph. Their last record, and first for Epitaph, This Will Be The Death of Us, was a huge hit with the kids. The popularity of Death of Us presents the band with a challenge: can they out-do themselves? With young music fans more fickle than ever, a single missed step could see SYG tossed into the same has-been pile along side Panic! At The Disco, Gym Class Heroes and Say Anything.

The band recently announced the title of their soon-to-be-released follow-up to Death of Us, Burning At Both Ends. As the band puts the finishing touches on the new album, they are embarking on a headlining tour of the country reconnecting with their fans and introduce them to a few new songs. Their stop at the E.S. Jungle will include opening acts Facts of Life and With Honors. Rest assured, the E.S. Jungle will be put to full use.
