This one is for the kids (up to the age of 30):
A rather worried rep from the Westfield City Parks Department contacted us press folks with an email this morning. You see, they've put together a Battle of the Bands as part of a July 4th festival, but no one has signed up!
And the grand prize isn't too shabby: $2500 cash money and studio time at the Sam Ash.
If you're at a stage in your career where a Battle of the Bands wouldn't seem like a step down (or up, I guess), it's may be worth your time to check this out.
Granted, the application fee is $25 (and the entry fee $125) — and the whole shebang is sponsored by Duke Energy. So this ain't no grassroots shindig (compare to the Battle of Birdy's one-time $35 fee), and like a card game, you're getting back some of what you put in the pot.
But if they're serious about not having received any applications, the competition may not be too steep.
