Wednesday

The Wellington: Explore the best beer menu in town at a discounted price. There’s usually a great mix of indie rock playing on the stereo. However, the room fills up fast and may get a little smoky.

Thursday

Moe & Johnny’s: $2.25 pint night, personalized service and a great mix of familiar locals and beautiful people. This is the epitome of a comfortable, neighborhood watering hole. The front porch is great for people-watching.

Friday

The Rathskeller: If it’s summer, then it’s Polka Boy in the Biergarten! Explore your inner-yuppie.

Saturday

Radio Radio: no smoking, tight sound and great pints. Plus, they book the most eclectic and interesting talent inside and outside of the city. Many of the bands that visit the WEEM studio play here.

All week long

There are a few spots worth mentioning that aren’t tied down to any day of the week.

The Irving Theater: a spacious, all-ages venue that books an interesting mix of local, regional and national acts. Artists rave about this place.

Music Mill: the best sound system around and great views of the stage. If you want to see a top-notch production that retains an intimate atmosphere, this is it.

Spin Nightclub: The former Patio is headed back in the right direction, supporting up-and-coming regional and national acts, including some Rock for Riley benefit shows.
