Here's an awesome project that's injecting some Memphis flavor into Indy's electronic music scene. Recently, G-9 Collective and Love Vinyl Records joined forces to start the live-broadcast 'Collective Sessions' online radio show on Memphis, TN based lforadio.com. Resident DJ Seth Nichols and a weekly guest throw down the sounds that are moving Indy's underground for two hours every Wednesday night starting at 7pm. The implications of the project reach much further than a two-hour music broadcast.
Matt Ramsey, G-9 Collective's owner and spokesman, started the project with the intent of connecting the Indianapolis electronic music scene to the lively scene in Memphis, TN. A former Memphis native, Matt reached out to lforadio and pitched the idea of using the platform as a way to expose the Memphis and Indianapolis markets to each other's talent, and to give lforadio.com a foothold in a new market.
The talent-swap between the two cities began almost immediately. LFO Radio chief and DJ Justin Hand headlined the G-9 'Freqency' event in late January, and the party was successful enough that a partnership for a monthly event in Memphis is in the pipeline. With LFO Radio's roster of shows and affiliated promoters working all over the country (Texas and Oregon already have LFO-centric events happening), the potential for Indianapolis DJ talent to get the opportunity to travel and play out is very exciting.
