It’s not every house music producer/DJ who can say they have taken home a Grammy for their work on the remix buttons, but Dubfire is one of those who can. As one-half of the world-renowned house duo Deep Dish, Dubfire was nominated four times and took home a statue in 2002 for his part in remixing Dido’s “Thank You.” Deep Dish has also reworked Madonna, P Diddy and Justin Timberlake in its career spanning 14 years and three enormously successful record labels (Deep Dish Records, Yoshitoshi Recordings and Shinichi Recordings).
Dubfire has now joined forces with Global Underground, well-known for its series of mix CDs by the world’s best-known DJs, to release his first solo mix album, Dubfire Taipei — GU31. Spanning deep house, progressive and even delving into the funkier side of techno and his own twist on ’80s industrial favorites Nitzer Ebb, the double disc takes you on a gourd-twisting journey through his diverse tastes.
On Monday, he will do the same on a pounding soundsystem at Therapy Nightclub & Lounge for an audience ready to take the journey with him. This is yet another chance for Indianapolis dancers to get their groove on thanks to the world-class talent that recognizes Indy is ripe for a good party, even on a weekday.
