For Indy's jazz lovers, there will be some annual musical performances to add even more enjoyment to the Christmas season. The Buselli Wallarab Jazz Orchestra will celebrate the holidays by presenting "The Jazz Nutcracker" for its second concert of the 2004-'05 season at the Indiana History Center Theater. Performances are scheduled Saturday, Dec. 4 at 2 and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 5 at 2 and 7 p.m. Tickets for 2 p.m. matinees are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors, and 7 p.m. performances are $20 adults and $15 students and seniors. The ninth annual Jazz Holiday Showcase, presented by the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation, will be held Thursday, Dec. 9 at the Madame Walker Center fourth floor ballroom. The lineup of performers for this year includes Mary Moss, Monika Herzig, Bill Lancton, Carmela Thomas, Everett and Larry Greene, Carl Hines, Charlie Smith, Seven Pleasures and Sophie Faught, tenor sax prodigy and Franklin Central High School senior. The Holiday Jazz Showcase will also announce the 2004 inductees into the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation Hall of Fame. Doors to the Showcase will open at 5 p.m. A buffet serving starts at 5:30 p.m. and the Showcase performance starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and can be purchased at the Madame Walker Theatre Center, and $15 at the door. An optional buffet dinner is offered for an additional $9.

The Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra will play its annual Big Band Christmas Extravaganza Friday, Dec. 17 at 8 p.m. in the Community Life Center, 10612 E. Washington St. The 17-member Indianapolis Jazz Orchestra with singers will perform an evening of holiday favorites in the big band styles of Count Basie, Stan Kenton and Glenn Miller, along with new tunes. A cash bar and desserts are available. Tickets are $15 adults and $10 for students in advance.
