92.3 WTTS-FM’s Fifth Annual Band Together
Patty Griffin, Jennie DeVoe, Terremoto
Saturday, April 28, $25, 6:30 p.m.
Celebrating its fifth year in raising awareness and donations for local school music programs, WTTS will host a benefit concert at the Vogue for Band Together with Patty Griffin on Saturday, April 28.
Griffin is one of the more influential American singer-songwriters today, having written music recorded by Dixie Chicks, Bette Midler, Jessica Simpson, Joan Osbourne and Linda Ronstadt. Her expressive, soulful voice can be heard on her latest album, which she’s currently touring to support. Children Running Through, released in February on Dave Matthews’ label, ATO Records, is a great example of her sensitivity and dedication to her craft.
Besides her new album, Griffin is also in the spotlight currently for a new musical based on her music, called 10 Million Miles, which opens off-Broadway in June. The musical is performed by the Atlantic Theatre Company and is about the “pursuit of love and family, and the geography of the American dream.”
Joining Griffin at the Vogue will be Jennie DeVoe, who has the power to fill a room no matter where she plays. Bloomington-based band Terremoto will also perform.
The concert’s proceeds will benefit Band Together. Supporters of local music education can also contribute by donating instruments at the show or cash donations online at musicforall.org. Donated instruments are evaluated, repaired and provided to Indianapolis Public Schools band rooms.
