Week two of Animals and All That Jazz presented by the IU Medical Group showcases Monika Herzig's Women of Jazz on the Indianapolis Zoo's Cafe on the Commons stage Thursday, July 21. Featured will be award-winning jazz pianist/composer and educator Monika Herzig, 18-year-old tenor saxophone prodigy Sophie Faught, bassist Jennifer Kirk and vocalist Janiece Jaffe.

The duo of Burke & Taylor will wrap up their free outdoor July engagement at Easley Winery's "Summertime on Easley Street," 205 N. College Ave., Tuesday, July 26, playing 5 to 7 p.m.

Gregg Bacon's various saxes and flutes with James Simmons' guitar and keyboards serves up smooth sumptuous sounds every Tuesday at Cafe @ Ray, 946 S. Meridian St., from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Swing dancers can jump to the sounds of the Blue Thunder Big Band at the Fountain Square Theatre's Friday Night Swing Dance July 22 from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Dance lessons are given 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $12 at 7:30 p.m. or $10 at 8:30 p.m.

The jazz duo of Steve Corn's piano and Fred Withrow's bass can be heard at the Keystone Grill, 8650 Keystone Crossing Blvd., during Sunday brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday, 6:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, add vocals by Julie Houston from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Corn and Withrow play 7 to 10 p.m.

The Indianapolis Saxophone Quartet will perform a free concert at the Artsgarden Sunday, July 24 at 2 p.m.

Upcoming event: Saturday, July 30 will be "A Taste of Pike" at Intech Park located at 71st and I-465. Among the entertainment will be jazz offerings from Cathy Morris, Keni Washington and Dog Talk. The event runs noon to 10 p.m.
