As spring flavors give way to summer palates, Oakleys will be tweaking its menu. Already, the new Dessert Menu features a refreshing Lemon x 3; Chocolate Hazelnut Waffle, drizzled with hot fudge, crunchy hazelnut brittle and rhubarb and topped with caramel vanilla ice cream; Strawberry Shortcake, ginger pound cake with macadamia nut mousse and strawberry "Dreamsickle" Anglaise; Apple Crepes laced with Applejack cinnamon caramel; Chocolate Torte with, what else, chocolate mousse; a warm Blue Cheese Financier Cake adorns the Cheese Plate; and the signature Crème Brûlée is accompanied by a refreshing vanilla cream and mango lime curd. As summer produce arrives in the next two to three weeks, look for summer entrée replacements as well.
"Summer Food Friendly Wines" for June include: Rémy Pannier Vouvray, The Crossings Sauvignon Blanc, Lange Pinot Noir and Mas de Collines Gigondas.
Tuesday Tastings: Visit Oakleys on any Tuesday evening from 5-6 p.m. for a complimentary wine tasting on the patio. Each week, a different wine representative features several wines for a casual, informal tasting and wine education. If you plan to stay for dinner, make reservations at 824-1231.
Chef for A Day: For any cooking skill level, from the curious to the serious, if you want the ultimate hands-on experience, consider becoming an Oakleys Chef For A Day for $200, which includes: working in the kitchen during the day with Chef Oakley and his team through lunch, an Oakleys bistro chef jacket and a three-course dinner for two that evening so you can enjoy your very own culinary creations.
