Gaia winery has announced its plans to close at the end of March after seven years in business on Massachusetts Avenue. Until the doors close, customers will be able to take advantage of closeouts and discounts at the tasting room.
Last week saw the roll-out of the first vodka to be made partially from soy beans. 3 Vodka has an attractive, clean aroma with hints of citrus and a suggestion of chamomile. On the palate, it is exceptionally smooth and rounded, attributes apparently derived from the use of soy. Surprisingly fat and warm on the palate, this is a fine vodka for use in straight-up martinis with just a whiff of vermouth. 3 Vodka comes in a striking Italian-designed bottle. It should be available at better liquor retailers over the coming months at a retail price of around $25.

Where the buffalo roam
The Broad Ripple Brewpub has asked me to mention the fact that they now have a buffalo burger on the menu, presumably by popular demand. At around $7, it"s not inexpensive, but by all accounts, it"s jolly good. Oh, and did I mention that they still make the best beer in town?
