IndyFringe is pushing the envelope Dec. 4 with a first ever 12 Pubs of Christmas Mass Ave Crawl as part of Holiday Hoopla and IDADA First Friday Walk on Mass Ave.
Says Pauline Moffat, "Get your tinsel, wigs, north poles and costumes ready for a rollicking good time. Come dressed in an outrageous festive outfit - naughty or nice - as we kick-off the holiday season in 12 pubs along Mass Ave. Unlike other bar crawls you make your own itinerary. Sign-in from 6-8 p.m. at any of the 12 bars to get your passport for discounts and prizes. The rules and locations will be sent to you when you register.
Says Jill Ditmire, "If you want a merry group to start out with, park, sign in and kick-off the night at 6 p.m. at the Mass Ave Wine Shop, 878 Massachusetts Ave. and make your way to all 12 bars. NUVO note: Sun King is on tap at Chatham Tap, McNivens and Mass Ave Pub. At Front Page, Old Point, Buddha Lounge, The Chatterbox, Agio, Metro, Scholar's Inn, 45 Degrees and Mass Ave Wine Shoppe you'll find craft brews from elsewhere along with wine and spirits.
Your $10 donation benefits IndyFringe and Indy Pride. Register online in advance at IndyFringe.org.
5th Annual Holiday Insanity Beer Tasting at Keg Liquors, Thurs. Dec. 3, 5 - 8 p.m. will feature about two dozen holiday and seasonal beers from around the world.
Harvest Fest at Oaken Barrel is Dec. 7 with "great food and a bonus keg of Apple Buzz" according to assistant brewer Andrew Castner. Tickets at www.oakenbarrel.com or call 317-887-2287.
If you're heading north on I-65 it's worth a stop at Crown Brewing Company, Crown Point, for their Winter Warlock, a mildly-spiced, tinge-of-sweet ale made with local honey and maple syrup.
Finally: Happy 10th anniversary to Barley Island in Noblesville.
