Nora shows off her deep-fried Sugar Cream Pie

Visitors to this year’s Indiana State Fair have casts their votes and winners of the annual “Taste of the Fair” contest have been announced by fair officials.

First Place: Bison Rangoon - Created by Red Frazier Bison, the Bison Rangoon featured charred sweet corn puree, cream cheese, and ground bison wrapped in a wonton and deep fried. ($2,500 prize)

Second Place: Piggy Popcorn with Sweet Yum Yum Sauce - Created by Pork-N-More, it featured deep fried seasoned pork cutlet topped with a sweet Hawaiian chili sauce. ($1,000)

Third Place: Deep Fried Sugar Cream Pie by Urick Concessions. The tasty treat featured Wick’s sugar cream pie dipped in funnel cake batter, deep fried, and topped with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce. ($500)

Fairgoers cast their votes for the best Taste of the Fair entry this week via ballots obtained from the Indiana State Fair information booths or via the Indiana State Fair mobile app.
