After more than 35 years, the tradition continues this summer with Symphony on the Prairie - the best value in central Indiana for outdoor music and entertainment! The series will feature a night in honor of the greatest composers of the past centuries, Wednesday, June 13.
“Mozart, Prokofiev, and More!” Wednesday, June 13 at 8 p.m. (Gates at 6 p.m.), performed by The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Expanding on the titans of the Classical world, the ISO looks to celebrate and educate the masses on wonders of composers of centuries gone by. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was not only one of the greatest composers of the Classical period, but one of the greatest of all time. Mozart's best music has a natural flow and irresistible charm, and can express humor, joy or sorrow with both conviction and mastery. In breathing new life into the symphony, sonata, and concerto, Sergey Prokofiev emerged as one of the truly original musical voices of the twentieth century. Bridging the worlds of pre-revolutionary Russia and the Stalinist Soviet Union, Prokofiev enjoyed a successful worldwide career as composer and pianist.
