Broad Ripple's summer children’s festival, the Broad Ripple Duck Race, is back for the 6th year, presented by the Broad Ripple Village Association and David Electric!
Free children's activities will be set up on the Rainbow Bridge overlooking the Broad Ripple Canal on Guilford Avenue north of Westfield Boulevard for families to enjoy from 3:00 to 5:00pm. Promptly at 4:30, 3,000 rubber ducks will enter the water at the Hope Plumbing Start Line where the Monon trail crosses the Central Canal. The ducks race west down the canal towards the Broad Ripple Realty Finish Line located by the pedestrian bridge near College Avenue. The Canal Esplanade between Guilford and College Avenues affords plenty of viewing space of the race.
Event attendees may purchase their ducks in advance at the BRVA booth at the Broad Ripple Farmers Market starting May 25th, at the BRVA office at 818 Broad Ripple Avenue on Tuesdays 1-4:00 pm and Thursdays 8-11:00 am, and at the Duck Race at the Duck Sales Booth prior to the race. Ducks are $6 each or six for $30. Event attendees are encouraged to watch the race from the north and south banks of the Central Canal between the Monon bridge and pedestrian bridge near College Avenue. After the race, contestants may pick up their rubber duck at the Duck Sales Booth as a souvenir.
Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third place finishers. All prizes are gift cards from Broad Ripple merchants. The first place prize is valued at over $500.
