Anthropologist Napoleon Chagnon, known worldwide for his pioneering work in the Amazon rainforest with the Yanomamo people, will speak April 13 at the University of Indianapolis. Chagnon’s 1968 book, Yanomamo: The Fierce People, detailing the Yanomamo’s hallucinogenic rituals and brutal ax fights, has been a staple on reading lists for almost anyone who has ever taken an anthropology course.
Chagnon will speak on “Yanomamo Warfare and the Struggle for Political Security” at 7:30 p.m. in UIndy’s Ransburg Auditorium, 1400 E. Hanna Ave. The event is free. Call 317-788-2103 for information, or e-mail email@example.com.
