Indiana’s Native American heritage is found in scores of place names, including, of course, the state’s very name. But, for too long, the Indians themselves have been all but invisible as far as the state’s dominant culture has been concerned. The Long Journey Home is the oral history of Indiana’s contemporary Delaware Indians. The project, by James W. Brown and NUVO’s Rita Kohn, has produced a major book, published by Indiana University Press, and a documentary film, which will be shown Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in the Lilly Auditorium of the IUPUI University Library. The film showing and dessert reception following are free.
