"Indianapolis kicks off the holidays every year the day after Thanksgiving in what is a citywide tradition. The 44th annual Circle of Lights presented by the Contractors of Quality Connection and Electrical Workers of IBEW 481 will light up the night Nov. 24. Thousands of Central Indiana residents and visitors will be on hand to see live performances by entertainers who were chosen to perform in the free event held on Monument Circle.
Six acts perform during the pre-show from 6-7 p.m. and the live, televised show (WRTV-6) is from 7-8 p.m. The Soldiers & Sailors Monument will be lit at about 7:50 p.m.
Performing are the band Living Proof; Michael Eldred performing “Believe”; Expressions Choir performing “Down-Home Deck the Halls”; Men In The Fire performing “Silent Night”; The Indianapolis Civic Theatre — Act One performing “We Need a Little Christmas” (dance routine); and Chaley Rose Jackson performing “O Holy Night.”
The Circle is flanked by larger-than-life peppermint sticks and toy soldiers, while 56,700 twinkle lights in trees add shimmer to the walkways. In addition, Santa will make his first official appearance of the 2006 holiday season and fireworks will end the celebration.
Visitors can bring a new or gently used twin or double blanket or make an equivalent donation to The Salvation Army red kettle at the Philips Norelco booth during the Circle of Lights. In return, the first 40 people to donate will receive the Philips Norelco SmartTouch-XL shaver. After the first 40, people who donate will receive a special rebate offer from Philips Norelco towards the purchase of a SmartTouch-XL or Speed-XL.
