"Tap dance is undergoing a major resurgence — good news for anyone hooked on rhythm, which is just about everybody. Hollywood’s Golden Age — the ’30s and ’40s — were a high water mark for tap, exemplified by the likes of Astaire and the Nicholas Brothers.
The Souls of Our Feet, A Celebration of American Tap Dance is a rare and welcome opportunity to see many of these signature dances performed live on stage, in three dimensions. Presented by the Tapestry Dance Company from Austin, Texas, the program is a montage that restages and pays tribute to the best rhythm tap masterpieces.
The Souls of Our Feet plays at Pike Performing Arts Center Jan. 19, 8 p.m. Tickets are $18 and $20, with discounts for seniors and students, and are available at Pike, 6701 Zionsville Road, by calling 317-216-5455 or online at www.PikePAC.org.
