Work by Kathryn T. Van Sciver will be part of the Studio Showcase Oct. 15-16; 726-0811. What started off 10 years ago as a small art sale in someone’s home has turned into an anticipated sale of 40 artists’ work and finery. “The most dramatic difference with this sale,” as compared to other local art shows participating artist Kathryn T. Van Sciver explained, “is that it doesn’t have the church basement booth look. Everyone’s objects are intermingled with everyone else’s.” And it’s in someone’s house, so you can imagine the art better in your own. “Food will be in the kitchen,” she added. “We want everyone to have the strength to shop.”
Van Sciver’s trade as an oriental rug restorer has led to her oriental rug pillow, hats, carpet bags and ottoman production, which will be for sale at the Studio Showcase. Jewelry, paintings, photography, ceramics, textiles and more can be found at this event. For more information on the sale call 726-0811. Visit www.crittur.com/StudioShowcase for a list of talented participating artists, most of whom you haven’t probably heard of before. Follow the signs to 5914 Stafford Way. That’s a half-mile west of where Meridian Street and Kessler Boulevard intersect. The sale takes place Friday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 16, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Cash and checks accepted.
