Plaisir d'Amour (Joy of Love) concert

The Indianapolis Opera Ensemble and faculty from the University of Indianapolis joined together with artist Master Au-Ho-nien to present anything but your typical Valentine's Day concert. It was far better than the usual set of love songs. Dr. Billy Catchings welcomed us to the evening by reading some Margaret Atwood before the IOE came out to sing a few arias. While this was going on, and tickling our aural senses, our visual senses were engaged as well, as Master Au began a painting that he completed by the end of the evening. This concert was a collaboration between the UIndy music program and UIndy Asian programs, and this isn't the first successful collaboration of theirs. I appreciated this concert not only because I don't hear Asian songs (which made up a wonderfully large part of the program) often enough, but because I was able to enjoy visual and aural art simultaneously.
