Disney’s 1953 animated adaptation of James M. Barrie’s story remains a spirited piece of fun with some dandy flight scenes and slapstick action. However, only two of the songs are memorable, Tinker Bell remains supremely annoying and the racist depiction (typical for its time) of an Indian tribe is squirm-inducing. Parents should be prepared to chat with the little ones afterwards about the difference between these ugly stereotypes and real Native Americans. 77 minutes. DVD INFO: The two-disc set includes a making-of featurette; a reading of part of an interesting Walt Disney article on why he made the film; an alternate opening; deleted songs; three games for younger children and a so-so virtual flight with Peter Pan.
