Want an advance look at the Indianapolis International Film Fest party people? The IIFF is sponsoring a festival opening party July 9 at the Melody Inn, 3826 N. Illinois St. The party will feature several live bands, including Indianapolis power pop quartet The Common and Chicago art rock band Athens. Bob and Tom Show favorite Donnie Baker and the Pork Pistols are also scheduled to perform a short comedic set. Along with the musicians, IIFF organizers and filmmakers will also attend and be available to speak with. The IIFF will also run a silent auction and movie trivia games. (However, there will not be any movies shown -- you have to wait for the actual film festival for that.) A cover of $5 for IIFF members and $7 for nonmembers will be charged. Proceeds will benefit the IIFF. For more information, go to http://indyfilmfest.org/. Check out next week's cover story for more on the IIFF.
