"Last week, NUVO ran a roundup chock-full of New Year’s Eve parties aimed primarily at purveyors of the bar scene. So here are a few alternative celebrations.
• Get your laugh on for the new year at ComedySportz. Two special New Year’s Eve shows will be presented: one at 7:30 p.m. and a New Year’s Eve Countdown match at 10:30 p.m. These two holiday-themed matches will include games such as “Sideline New Year’s Resolution,” “Countdown” and “Advice for the New Year,” plus many of your favorite games. During the late match, the time clock will be counting down to midnight, and you will get party hats, noisemakers and a sparkling grape juice toast at midnight. Both matches are for the whole family. Tickets for the 7:30 match are $15, students and seniors $12, ages 5-11 $8 and ages under 5 are free. Tickets for the 10:30 match are $20/$18 and kids 2-11 $12. Reservations are suggested; call 317-951-8499 or go to www.indycomedysportz.com. ComedySportz is located at 721 Massachusetts Ave.
Speaking of comedy: Morty’s Comedy Joint will have Aries Spears headlining, and Crackers will have Todd Yohn at Broad Ripple and James Stephens III downtown. One Liners has Milo Tremely featuring Big John Richardson. All are offering specials for New Year’s.
